Burdur Marble Reference Project: Antalya Airport International Terminal
One of the most remarkable works in Turkey using the white Burdur marble is the Antalya Airport International Terminal, located in the southwest part of the country.
The Antalya Airport International Terminal closed its previous installations and inaugurated the new terminal in 1998, bringing forward a new brand image and appearance. The interior of the terminal was covered with natural stone and the flooring was completely done with Burdur marble. The extensive ground, including the staircases, were covered with a high quantity of Burdur marble panels and mosaics. Due to this extensive flooring application, the airport has become one of the most important reference works of Burdur marble in Turkey.
The Antalya Airport International Terminal has received several notable awards and achievements over the few years, such as the Europe’s Best Airport in the category of 10-25 million passengers by ACI Europe 2011. Presently, the airport receives over 25 million passengers a year and it directly connects Turkey with Europe through the Mediterranean.
